You created it probably because you calles as root (or via sudo)
	updmap
which is wrong (please see TeX on Debian documentation in the tex-common
package, but in fact you should NOT need to do that at all!!!). The 
correct way is calling
	updmap-sys
which writes to /var/lib/texmf
