Bug#580053: texlive-bibtex-extra: custom-bib: bibtex errors

Package: texlive-bibtex-extra
Version: 2009-7
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

Custom bst files made with custom-bib make bibtex fail, even when
choosing the default options.

For example, with the attached files test.dbj, and minimal.tex:

$ latex test.dbj
$ latex minimal.tex
$ bibtex minimal.aux
This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (TeX Live 2009/Debian)
The top-level auxiliary file: minimal.aux
The style file: test.bst
Database file #1: xampl.bib
Warning--empty author in whole-journal
Warning--empty title in whole-journal
1 is an integer literal, not a function, for entry whole-proceedings
while executing---line 1390 of file test.bst
You can't pop an empty literal stack for entry whole-proceedings
while executing---line 1390 of file test.bst
1 is an integer literal, not a function, for entry proceedings-minimal
while executing---line 1390 of file test.bst
You can't pop an empty literal stack for entry proceedings-minimal
while executing---line 1390 of file test.bst
(There were 4 error messages)

With the following patch, against merlin.mbs, the generated bst file
does not produce errors anymore:

-- Package-specific info:
If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of
other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that
can be found at

http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini-en.html (english)

or

http://www.latex-einfuehrung.de/mini.html (german)
