Indeed, LaTeX base switched suddenly to a new encoding default for
xetex and luatex, very surprising.
That means that fonts-lmodern is now necessary for the two, umpf.

Actually fonts-lmodern added to texlive-latex-base should be
enough, but I might upgrade that to "lmodern" itself.

I will upload fixed packages, but the conundrum is done as freeze is
starting in 5 days and the packages will not migrate, great.
Anyway, for now nothing to do for you, I will try to upload tonight.
