Check out rdate. With one (two?) simple command, you can adjust your
clock.
My /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/time_adjust script:
#!/bin/sh
su root -c "rdate -a makosteszta.sote.hu > /dev/tty9"
su root -c "hwclock --systohc"
# (The value of readjustment each time echoed on tty9.)
