I myself use the following command sequence as soon as go on-line:
/usr/sbin/netdate -b -s 192.43.244.18
/sbin/clock -uw
Running netdate is anyway recommended before starting xntp and
clock -w sets your CMOS clock from the system time (clock -uw in case
it set to universal rather than local time).
