Re: Win95/Linux network problem

Hey there...

I had much the same problem. Very recently too.

What driver are you using under Linux (and W95 too) for the network card?
Is the network card driver ACTUALLY loading? Use "dmesg" to go through the
boot time kernel messages.
Under Winborg, is it Plug'n'Play?

In the end for me, it came down to some combination of the following:

1) I had a flaky combination of RAM DIMMs that caused repeated spontaneous
quasi-random reboots.
2) Use the IP addresses 192.168.0.x where x is variable (as opposed to
192.168.*1*.x)
3) Note the IRQs of the network card under Windows. Check your BIOS PnP menu.
Manually set that IRQ to "legacy / manual / whatever" as opposed to PnP.

I was beating my head against a wall for over three weeks trying to work it
out. I then changed those three things in one hit and surprise surprise, it's
all been working WONDERFULLY since then.

If it works, could you let me know please? Thanks...
