fonts in *terms ...

question ... i would really like to use a different font under x for my
*terms (i'm using Eterm at the moment but i don't care which of the various
options i use in the end).

i found xfontsel and found a font i like (looks great in the preview in
xfontsel) but when i tell Eterm to use it, the spacing between the
characters is *huge* making the term nearly as wide as my entire screen.
since the main point of doing this is to get smaller terms on my screen that
are still pretty ... it renders this pretty much useless.

does anyone know how i can do this?

the fonts i'm trying to use which looks great under xfontsel is:

-adobe-utopia-*-r-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
-bitstream-charter-*-r-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"

and the commands i'm running are:

Eterm -F "-adobe-utopia-*-r-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
xterm -fn "-adobe-utopia-*-r-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"

but i'm just not having much luck.  is there a way to get nice fonts which
are smaller (it would seem so since i can get them in xfontsel)?

any ideas would be much appreciated.
