I believe that what you are talking about is referred to as IP Aliasing.
This allows one to have multiple IP addresses (in different network
address spaces) assigned to the same NIC. I have not done this personally
but I there is a mini-HOWTO that describes this. Perhaps you should look
there or do a web search on IP Aliasing.
