I have my 486/DX4 running on slink; did that aprox. two days ago. The
only problem I encountered was that the resc. floppy changed from no
bad-sector to bad-sector the next day after the first install. I created
another one (I have a Slack. Linux running, so I can use fdformat, dd,
etc.), and then the new foppy was fine.

What program did you use? Linux's fdformat? or DOS's format?
Try fdformat, and make sure that it returns "Done".
