Ah OK.  Please check with Arnd Bergmann <arnd@bergmann-dalldorf.de>,
who also notified me of his interest in this package, and to whom I
have sent my preliminary work.

I think it would also make sense that the one taking lkcdutils would
adopt the kernel-patch-lkcd package as well.
