I am planning to release them in main. The font-materialdesignicons-webfont
package also contains pre-generated fonts, and that package is in main.

The licence is Apache 2.0, but was previously Creative Commons 4.0 BY.

Upstream issue #822 says users can package the icons in a commercial
application. [1]

#424 received a non-official response on the do not re-sell part of the licence.
"It's just text. They don't want you to make money solely by selling
their icon. But they want you to make commercial use of the icons
within your own commercial software. If you use the icons in
my_software.app, that's fine. They don't want you to be selling a
google_material_design_icons.zip for $99.99. The "do not sell" part is
a wish. An intention. But not an actual licence. It's in no way a
variant of the CC BY NC licence." [2]

#417 is indicative of the confusion regarding the do not re-sell part
of the licence. [3] Unfortunately, there is no official answer.

That said, #951 observes that the repository is not maintained regularly. [4]
An active fork has appeared [5], which includes a lot of fixes (such
as missing icons) not available in Google's repository. The same font
files are available, but the icon images are not.
The licence is Apache 2.0, but does not have the ambiguity of the do
not re-sell part.

Given the fixes and clarify surrounding the licence, packaging the
fork seems a better option. Do you agree?
