Bug#817078: ITA: boxbackup

I looked at the bug report which says that boxbackup fails to compile with gcc 11. I did not see any update from you or any proposed patch. I'm not familiar with mentors, but I'm happy to sponsor you from time to time (sorry, I cannot promise timely reactions) if I'm able to see and review your changes.

Did you publish your changes to some git repository? Consider pushing your changes to salsa and configuring your repository in a way that updates the bug if the commit message references it. This way a potential sponsor (such as me) can easily review your approach to solving the issue.

As for the specific question of using gcc-10: This might be an acceptable workaround for the time being. I would suggest you as new maintainer to bring this issue to the attention of the boxbackup developers upstream and ask if they can change the code in a way to allow compilation with both gcc 10 and 11. Ideally you can even provide them a patch for that!

Best of luck!
