Ok, although I thought my update of xserver-xfree86 (which includes
libglx.a) would have done that. But now I look at my extensions directory
and I see:
$ ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/
total 896
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 15328 Feb 25 16:53 libdbe.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 28628 Feb 25 16:53 libdri.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 145658 Feb 25 16:53 libextmod.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 Dec 29 22:38 libglx.so -> libglx.so.1.0.4191
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 659340 Dec 29 22:38 libglx.so.1.0.4191
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23012 Feb 25 16:53 librecord.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 37762 Feb 25 16:53 libxtrap.a
So that's the libglx from the Nvidia build. Does the xserver-xfree86
package not add libglx.a if it finds another glx? Assuming libxlg.a is
what I need, is there a way to just install that file out of the package?
Or, at this point would it be wise (or easier) to
apt-get remove xserver-xfree86
apt-get -t unstable install xserver-xfree86
to get a clean install?
One thing I left out of my last post was that mga_hal is being installed.
I don't understand what's loading that module. I though that was only
used with the mga_drv from the Matrox site, but I'm using the stock
mga_drv from Xfree86 -- or at least I think I am.
(II) Loading sub module "mga_hal"
(II) LoadModule: "mga_hal"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/mga_hal_drv.o
(II) Module mga_hal: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.2.0, module version = 1.0.0
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.5
(II) MGA(0): Matrox HAL module used
