Probably not that simple, but if possible, I wish the references to
files in /usr/share/doc/xdm/changelog.Debian.gz were written from the
user's point of view, as it takes a lot of sleuthing to figure out
what files you are talking about.
$ dlocate debian/local/FAQ
$ dlocate FAQ
$ dlocate FAQ|grep -i x
$ dlocate FAQ|grep -i x/
$ dlocate FAQ|grep -i /x
OK, no big deal.

The changelog is there primarily for communication with other
developers, not with the user.

NEWS.Debian, README.Debian, and other such files are generally targeted
at the user.
