Version: 3.3.2.3a-11

Hi,

I don't really know whether this is a problem with finger, the C
library, but I thought that I would like to place them blame on
sessreg at first!

The symptoms of this problem are that finger prints a bogus idle
time for the :0 entry (this system was installed ~ 98 days ago),

     using `finger jeff' I get:

On since Thu Sep 16 08:53 (EDT) on :0 from console
                277 days 22 hours idle

using `finger jeff@localhost' I get (note: cfingerd is installed):

On since Thu Sep 16 08:53AM (EDT) on :0 Idle 23278 days
           07:00:00 from console [MSG-N]

Notice the bogus ip-address (235.69.3.64) in the utmp record for
:0,

       jeff|:0|7|:0|357|235.69.3.64|console |Thu Sep 16 08:53:54
       1999

which leads me to believe that sessreg is the culprit, even though
the idle times from the finger output differ.

Here are the gory details showing my hostname's ip-address and
complete output from both fingers above followed by a utmp dump,

47 jeff ~ $ ping -c1 `hostname`
PING eden-hda7 (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.1 ms
