This bug is also affecting me. I have a laptop which I frequently use a USB mouse with. I use the evdev driver to support my mouse. I have a udev rule giving the mouse's event device a static name. However, if I start X when the mouse is not plugged in, then the evdev driver can't find the device, and my machine crashes. I have to remember to disable the mouse in the config file first. Because I use gdm, this involves booting into single-user mode. This is not a corepointer, so I would think that X should just ignore it when it can't initialize it. Instead, it segfaults. Option AllowMouseOpenFail does not fix the problem. I have lots of free time so I can do any testing requested to help fix this problem. Thanks, -- -Julian Blake Kongslie <jblake@omgwallhack.org>
