Robert: did you have time to test this (I can't do non-xinerama dual
head so can't really test your problem)? Xfce 4.4.2 (uploaded recently)
is supposed to fix issues with dual head, so maybe you're lucky.
Julien: I know you don't use xfwm4 anymore, but could you retry and
report back?
