Can we revisit this issue? Upstream lightdm sources .profile, I don't understand why Debian changes it. Even if .profile shouldn't be used for graphical shells, ~/.local/bin should clearly be in PATH out of the box. If sourcing .profile is unacceptable, the contents of .profile should be moved somewhere they will get sourced. It's 12 years later, and this issue is still inconveniencing users. Thanks -Ed
