Package: apt
Version: 0.3.4

Apt is taking whitespace following the version number to be significant
when comparing versions. An example is in python-gnome 1.0.1-1.1, which
has a dependancy of Depends: python-gtk (>= 0.5.12-1.1 )

Apt treats the trailing whitespace within the parenthesis as significant,
which is contrary to the Debian Packaging manual, section 8.1:

  Whitespace may appear at any point in the version specification,
  and must appear where it's necessary to disambiguate; it is not
  otherwise significant.
