I don't have a /cdrom dir, nor any entry in /etc/fstab for it.
Since I have 3 cdroms, I created /ext/cd0, /ext/cd1 and /ext/cd2 entries.
I ran "apt-cdrom -d /ext/cd0" just fine on my 3 CDs, but when I ran apt-get,
it complained abount not finding anything in /cdrom. There must be an
option somewhere to tell apt-get where to expect cdrom mounts.

Yes.. it is in /etc/apt/apt.conf - it sets for both. The option for
apt-cdrom is more for testing...
I think it is acquire::cdrom::mount "/ext/cd0";
