Package: imlib-dev
Version: 1.9.11-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

I am running testing with KDE 2.2.2 including kedit from unstable which
after yesterday's update complained "libpng warning: Application is
running with png.c from libpng-1.0.12 ... Application was compiled with
png.h from libpng-1.2.1. So, while upgrading libpng with apt-get I
temporarily removed libpng2-dev and later reinstalled it.

For dependency reasons imlib-dev and a few other packages had also been
removed in the process. After I had reinstalled imlib-dev
libwxgtk2.2-dev libmagick5-dev gdk-imlib-dev, apt-get returned: E:
Unable to parse package file /var/lib/dpkg/status (1), and: E: The
package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened, and was
therefore unusable.

I removed the four packages with dpkg and had to realize that whenever
imlib-dev was reinstalled, alone or together with the other packages,
apt-get would exit with the aforementioned error messages. Removing
imlib-dev always cured the condition.

My system currently has the following packages installed which may or
may not add to the problem: libpng2 and libpng2-dev 1.0.12-3 plus
libpng3 1.2.1-3.

Thanks and Greetings,
Andreas von Heydwolff, Vienna.
