Bug#316274: apt: greater control over authentication (#316274)



I think this would be useful feature too, though I definitely vote for
the more general form (selection based on site or line in sources.list).

I think, though I'm not positive, that the authentication scheme has
caused some automatic operations to fail because some repositories I
used aren't using it.  I'd rather not have to turn it off entirely.

Perhaps the verification could follow a scheme like that in the
preferences file for determining the desired version of a file.  By this
I mean authentication options could use the same framework (and maybe
the same syntax) developed there for specifying options based on general
characteristics of packages and  the sources of the packages.

On the other hand, maybe you want to leave the annoyance so those of us
using other repositories will bug the maintainers to start using the
authentication system :)
