I agree with Andrew on the nature of the psuedo locales, they are not intended at all to be used for applications. They are strictly designed to test the functionality on the system. And, it seems to me that these symbols DEM and FRF are certainly not obsolete. Yes, the new currency is EUR but there are going to be plently on older sets of data that use the older currencies.
