This is a flamewar. People will say hasty things. There are
over-lapping arguments about whether non-free is part of Debian (which
clearly it is not), and whether it should be on mirrors (which IMO it
should). Possibly Adam got confused. Benefit of the doubt? anyway...

OK, so some education of our users might be a good thing (I'm not so
sure they are as ignorant as you make out - all the Debian users I
know understand about free software and non-free). Throwing out
non-free is not the way to do it - you'll just alienate people.
