Maybe cron was started from a directory that either doesn't exist
anymore (e.g. as in "mkdir /tmp/bla; cd /tmp/bla; /etc/init.d/cron start;
cd /; rmdir /tmp/bla") or a subdirectory that isn't readable by uucp?
