You miss the point.  Debian packages aren't the only programs which
have problems.  Those *will* be fixed before potato becomes stable.
We are also supplying a library which works with user's programs.  We
have not control over those programs.

Debugging potato means making the upgrade process from slink to potato
as painless as possible when potato becomes stable.  A few things
breaking in unstable is expected.  A few things breaking in stable is
bad. 

Remember, Unix lex create files uncompilable with glibc2.1.  Fixing
Debian applications does not fix the release.
