xlogmaster breaks on glibc2.1 - need help

Hi,

I received a bugreport, I can not reproduce (#34997). I blame it to
the "glibc2.1-effekt", as the user has it installed. 

I do not use glibc2.1 on my machine yet, so I would be thankful, if
someone could take a look at it and help identifying the problem.
