[Debconf-team] volunteering for the debconf by non-locals - queries.

Dear all,

Before I start, at the outset, I have asked for both sponsorship for
both accommodation and travel. Also I'm not subscribed to the list so
please CC me if somebody is replying on the thread.

With that out of the way, I saw the debconf wiki page and saw the bit
about volunteering but there seem to be no information about what a
non-local volunteer is supposed to do and how much s/he can do
remotely.

https://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf16

There are three subsets or teams being shown there :-

a. Infrastructure team (NOC)

b. Video team

c. Attendee Support team

Apart from the Video team, nothing is known about the other two teams.
Could somebody elaborate on the other two teams so potential
volunteers do know what sort of people and skillsets who are
organizing debconf are looking for ? The only work right now seems to
be able to shoot and review raw video but there are other roles that
have not been spelt out. There may be some work that could be done
remotely in the other two teams, while some roles which require to be
in-situ (on-site) which leads to my next query.

For roles which require in-situ (or on-site) presence by volunteers,
how many days before debconf they would need to be on the venue to be
of value to debconf ?

Also being a volunteer, does it mean that s/he would have to volunteer
for the entire duration of the debconf ? Are there possibilities of
volunteer of before and after the conference. I ask as somebody who
has volunteered in smallish foss events in the country, volunteers
don't get to attend all the workshops or listen to lectures. Hence for
a potential first-time attendee, it probably would be a bad idea to
volunteer for the conference. Could somebody clarify on that ?

For instance, I would love to help out on the Debian Open Weekend
sharing what little experience I have about using Debian for work as
well as fun.

Look forward to hearing from the team.
