Please fix IO::Socket timeout bug before releasing potato

Hi,

(cf. Bug #51426)

perl_base still contains the outdated (from 1996 ?) version 1.1603
IO::Socket module which is known to be buggy (at least there is a
bug that affects the timeout behaviour in a serious way). Other
Perl Modules that use IO.pm are affected as well.

We should really switch to IO Version 1.20 (released 24th July 1998)
(cf http://search.cpan.org/search?mode=module&query=IO%3A%3ASocket)
before we release potato.

Maybe one should increase the severity of Bug #51426?
