It probably means you've run out (or don't have) Unix98 ptys - most things
don't allow for backwards compatibility (but Eterm (www.eterm.org) does *plug plug*)
:)

To have Unix98 ptys you need to run kernel 2.2 and have them turned on in the kernel
config (under Character Devices, I believe)
