If the target of the patch is the newest upstream, I fully agree.  (I
have submitted BTS of sed and gawk to apply the multibyte patch)
However, In this case, the multi-byte patch should be applied to an
old one (grep 2.0 (not 2.3)).  And there is no patch for newest grep,
in my knowledge.

What should I do in this circumstance?

I'm  very sorry that I have not contacted you.

By the way, the patch is located in 
	 ftp://ftp.hipecs.hokudai.ac.jp/pub/GNU/jp/grep-2.0-mb1.04.diff.gz
I try to apply it to grep-2.3, but I cannot it.
If you have a time, please try.
