I never saw such an error. Did you do a native build? Maybe the hurd just
had some hard-to-produce randomee-looking bug.

Is this reproducable? If you type make again, does it come further?

Maybe there was a "random" bug when libdiskfs.a was created. Maybe deleting
it and running make helps.
