One member of the local Linux Users Group has commented that he
did some work on some code written by the OSF, who had considerable
involvement with Mach.  

He found their code to be spaghetti-like and otherwise very difficult
to maintain.

It is not outrageous to consider it possible that there might be some
relationship between these factors and Mach being difficult to work
with...
