I think I like this idea the best. I tried using netenv but I just got
completely confused because I'm using DHCP and I've never had to set up
any of the IP numbers it wants me to know. I was able to get some from
ifconfig but I just got frustrated by it.

Here's my next problem though: I need to do port forwarding for my
OUTGOING mail. I've got the keychain and public authentication keys set
up, but I'd like to add the port forwarding stuff somewhere (1) if I'm
connected to the internet and (2) I've authenticated my public keys after
a reboot (I'd love it if the public keys survived a reboot, but I don't
think this is possible).

Is this approach still a good one?

thanks,
