He's currently at pre-patch-6, which I'm running on my intel, but my
alpha is still at pre-patch-2.
Re: your other question about the makefile; the pre-patch-2 version
has these lines around line 30:
# determine if we can use the BWX instructions with GAS
#$(shell rm -f /tmp/GAS_VER)
#$(shell $(AS) --version > /tmp/GAS_VER 2>&1)
I believe there used to be a csh-ism something like >& which was the
problem. Apparently that's now gone.
