Going back to 4.17 is not an option since 4.18 fixed a lot of bugs...
However, I've always said I'd welcome a patch porting the functionnalities
from 4.17 to 4.18... So far nobody has even bothered to send me an updated
patch for ada and pthread, so I assume it's not really important. If you
happen to disagree, please send me a patch or motivate someone to do so.
(I got a new objc patch a few days ago but haven't tried it yet).

Indeed, you can't. The people to blame are the upstream gdb maintainers
who refuse to integrate the patches. I integrate patches to add
functionnalities to gdb, but don't develop them, so in case of upstream
upgrade, most patches have to be rethought.
