Or we could take it a bit further:
sun -> dusk -> moon -> night -> knight

I kind of liked mother and upm too.  Maybe add on mom and mama.  If it
needs to be longer, that can be arranged.

P.S. on the anit-deity debate:  mroe is a common trojan horse, do we want
diety to be another?
