     Depending on the configuration of your system, the script offers
either /var/lib/dpkg/methods/ftp or /tmp as default locations for
storing the files, but allows you to choose any directory.  Put the
libc5 package in whichever you select, in a subdirectory oldlibs/.

     This is OK.  The directory you put the script doesn't matter - it
could run from your home directory just as well.  If you put it in
/tmp, you will lose it on the next reboot.

     Yes, you're done, except for running dselect to finish the
upgrade.
