Work just give me one so I don't need to go to the trouble of speccing them.

Hell, if you start getting techies to spec kit we might end up with
something decent!

I very much agree on this - 1024x768 is very nice, but usually rather
expensive... I have Dell Inspiron 7000 with a 15" screen and I like it
very much, although it's a bit on the heavy side. So if you don't mind
a bit of size and weight I very much recommend it.
ATI Rage PRO LT chip set, supported in latest XFree86. Sound card is
ESS Maestro 2 - beta support at best, but I can listen to my mp3s and
that's really all I need ;-)
